A16 roadworks expected to cause disruption near Dunkirk

Starting from today (April 19th) until May 7th, roadworks are to be conducted on France’s A16 motorway. Some 2.1 kilometres of road are affected.

The work, which is estimated to cost half a million euros, is being conducted on weekdays.

The project is to be completed in 3 stages.

Stage 1 

The first stage of the work lasts from April 19th until April 23rd at 6pm. In the direction Belgium-France, traffic will be in the left lane for approximately four kilometers after interchange 65 (Ghyvelde / Bray-Dunes / Hondschoote).

Stage 2

On April 26th at midnight, the second stage of the roadworks shall begin. The work should be completed by April 30th at 6pm. Traffic will be in the left lane in the direction of France-Belgium for approximately five kilometres after interchange 65 (Ghyvelde / Bray-Dunes / Hondschoote).

In addition, the exit ramp for interchange 64 (Leffrinckoucke / Téteghem / Zuydcoote) will be closed.

A detour will be set up via the A16 at exit 62 (Dunkerque center / center hospitalier). A diversion will be indicated.

Moreover, in the France-Belgium direction, traffic will be in the right-hand lane for approximately six kilometres.

Stage 3

Finally, the third phase of roadworks is to be carried out from May 3rd at 6am until  May 7th at 6pm. In the direction Belgium-France, traffic will be in the left lane for approximately four kilometres after interchange 65.
