The super-fast hyperloop for cargo transport is slowly becoming a reality. At least that’s what the creators of the newly-founded DP World Cargospeed say, including eccentric billionaire Richard Branson. The company hopes that the idea will revolutionize not only time but also transport costs.
DP World Cargospeed consists of two companies – Virgin Hyperloop One, that belongs to the famous billionaire, founder of Virgin Group – Richard Branson, and logistics company DP World. Together, they form a new international brand that will deal with hyperloop-enabled cargo systems. The company is to offer fast, sustainable and efficient delivery of loads on pallets. The system was designed in such a way as to ensure the delivery of goods on demand. The transport will take place at a speed close to that of an aircraft. In terms of costs, it is closer to road transport.
We see the need to have a network with hyperloops in order to support fast on-demand deliveries around the world – explains sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, CEO of DP Group.
The proposed solution is to enable transport with a maximum speed of 1000 km/h. This will be possible thanks to the technology that Virgin Hyperloop One will make available. Mainly “priority goods” that are not advisable for long journeys, i.e. fresh food, medical supplies, and electronics, will be transported in this way.
As promised by the creators, this type of transport will expand the possibility of freight transport and connect it with existing means of road, rail, sea and air transport.
Hyperloop in e-commerce?
The technology proposed by DP World Cargospeed according to the first estimates is about to reduce the required warehouse space by approx. 25 percent.
The global development of e-commerce leads to a dramatic change in both consumer and business behavior. Deliveries on demand are new today. In the future it will be something natural” – says the billionaire.
