A 115-metre-long viaduct and two new motorway sections were opened in Germany – the A 46 and the A33. Traffic flow in North Rhine-Westphalia is expected to improve.

Two sections of motorways in North Rhine-Westphalia were put into operation last Monday:

– a 7.2 kilometre-long section added to the A33 between Halle and Borgholzhausen, which was the fill the „gap” section on the motorway between Osnabrück and Paderborn.

– A 46 between Bestwig and Olsberg, i.e. the 5.6 km long and 115 m high Nuttlar viaduct, which is the tallest facility of this type in Germany. Its building took ten years.

The new A46 section will relieve traffic on the B7 federal road through Bestwig. It will facilitate the connection from the Ruhr to the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia.
