Brummer Group, a family-owned business founded in 1977, operates across Germany and Austria with a combined workforce of around 950 employees. The company offers temperature-controlled transport, warehousing and contract logistics services for food across the region, including cross-border shipments.

Dachser highlighted Brummer’s excellent reputation as a quality leader and its extensive network in southern Germany and Austria. The acquisition follows Dachser’s recent purchases of Frigoscandia in Northern Europe and Müller Fresh Food Logistics in the Netherlands, underlining its ambition to be a leading player in European food logistics.

Brummer will be fully integrated into Dachser’s Food Logistics network after the acquisition is complete. Max Reih, Brummer’s current Chief Operating Officer, will continue to manage the operational business and report to Dachser’s Food Logistics leadership team.

Both companies emphasised the complementary nature of the deal, with Dachser praising Brummer’s focus on reliability and quality, values that align with their own. Dachser also acknowledged the expertise of Brummer’s workforce, particularly in cross-border transport, which will be crucial for future growth.

Dachser on a recent acquisition spree

Dachser has been on a recent acquisition spree, significantly expanding its logistics network in the last few months. In December 2023, they acquired Frigoscandia, a major player in temperature-controlled food logistics across the Nordic region.

This move, as stated by Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser, broadens Dachser Food Logistics reach to the Nordic markets, reinforcing our status as a leading European provider in food logistics.

The acquisition added a significant workforce of over 1,300 employees with expertise in a crucial logistics segment.

Additionally, Dachser secured regulatory approval for a joint venture with Fercam in Italy in November 2023. This partnership grants Dachser an 80% stake in a substantial Italian groupage and contract logistics business, incorporating nearly 1,000 employees and projected revenue of €400 million.
