The purchase will give Dachser its first own locations in Scotland, adding five sites across the Central Belt between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The companies have not disclosed the purchase price.
Drummond generated approximately £20 million in revenue in 2025. The acquisition also includes around 46,500 square metres of warehousing and a fleet of roughly 100 trucks and 80 trailers.
Founded in 1927, Drummond specialises in the distribution of industrial goods and ambient food products and has worked with Dachser since 2008, connecting Scottish customers with the German logistics group’s European groupage network.
Dachser fills gap in UK network
Dachser has not previously operated its own sites in Scotland. According to the company, the acquisition expands its geographical coverage without creating overlapping structures. Drummond will continue to operate under its existing management team, headed by Damon Burns, while the current owners gradually withdraw from the business.
The management team will report to Mark Rollinson, managing director of Dachser UK & Ireland.
Drummond’s main base is in Armadale, West Lothian, close to the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The company says its location puts around 60% of Scotland’s population within a one-hour drive of its depot. Its regional distribution operation covers destinations ranging from Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Borders to Aberdeen, Inverness, Fort William and Oban.
Nearly two decades as network partners
The acquisition turns a relationship stretching back almost two decades into full ownership.
“We have a long-standing and trusting partnership with Dachser,” said Damon Burns of Drummond Distribution, adding that joining another family-owned company would offer employees and customers greater stability and create further growth opportunities.
Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at Dachser, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s UK network and provide Scotland’s export-oriented industries with closer connections to European markets.
Dachser itself generated consolidated revenue of approximately €8.3 billion in 2025 and employed around 37,500 people at 427 locations worldwide.
