The company’s service includes up to forty weekly departures to destinations across thirty-five European countries. DACHSER Ireland is the first major logistics provider to revert to the pre-Brexit European service, reintroducing the UK as a key transit route. The move comes as Irish exporters face challenges due to capacity constraints, limited ferry services, and weather-related disruptions on direct shipping routes to mainland Europe.
“By restoring a fast and efficient UK landbridge option, DACHSER is creating a competitive advantage for Irish exporters,” said John Van Den Berg, Managing Director of DACHSER Ireland. He highlighted the benefits of a simplified T2 transit procedure, which allows goods to move seamlessly through the UK and onto European destinations via the Channel Tunnel.
DACHSER’s European network, consisting of 220 branches handling over 77 million shipments annually, supports the new initiative. The company’s IT systems and eLogistics platform provide increased reliability, transparency, and security, particularly beneficial for Irish pharmaceutical and hazardous cargo exporters.
With this service, DACHSER aims to re-establish efficient trade connections that were disrupted by Brexit, ensuring a more streamlined logistics process for Irish businesses. The company emphasised that its network of offices in Ireland, the UK, and across Europe enables high levels of reliability and customer reassurance.
