A 34-year-old haulier from Skanderborg in Denmark has been sentenced to four months in prison after being found guilty of forging transport permits using glitter nail polish.

The haulier’s fake permits were spotted during an inspection of the company’s trucks last summer. The haulage boss was held personally liable for the violations committed by the drivers of his transport company, which has now gone bankrupt.

The 34-year-old haulier and truck driver pleaded guilty to the charges placed against him, admitting to the court that he had made copies of a real permit and smeared glitter nail polish on the copies in an attempt to make the forged hologram look genuine.

During the trial Special Prosecutor Pernille Moesborg said that the haulier intended to make the copies look as real as possible by using the nail polish:

“had done this to make the hologram look as real as possible. The permits were placed in the cars so that they could be shown to the police during a check.”

The haulier was also fined around €60 for his actions, a fee that was agreed on the basis he receive psychiatric treatment.
