The UK e-commerce sector is projected to reach a turnover of £176 billion by 2029, making it the largest in Europe. To support this growth, the new hub integrates advanced automation and a 48-door cross-dock facility, as well as secure bonded storage and customs services to facilitate international trade.

Business Minister Justin Madders attended the opening and praised the investment, stating,

“The West Midlands is a powerhouse for investment, and this state-of-the-art hub in Coventry will not only create hundreds of local jobs but give a major boost to our logistics sector and speed up delivery times for consumers.”

The hub also places a strong emphasis on sustainability and has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Environmental features include 7,000m² of solar panels, LED lighting, and landscaping to protect biodiversity. Additionally, 120 electric vehicle charging points have been installed to support the transition to greener logistics.

Stuart Hill, CEO of DHL eCommerce UK, described the investment as a commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.

“By increasing our capacity with a state-of-the-art operation, we’re creating long-term jobs, growth opportunities for our customers and a blueprint for more sustainable logistics,” he said.
