In a press release, DLG said the agreement concerned the takeover of logistics services in the Benelux and to the United Kingdom, mainly involving flowers and plants.

As part of the deal, DLG will also takeover Gist’s distribution centre in Bleiswijk. The Dutch company says the agreement represents a “further reinforcement” of its existing services, as well an addition of value to its network in the Benelux and exports to the UK.

Commenting on the announcement, Joost Visbeen, CEO of the Daily Logistics Group (DLG), said:

“We see the acquisition of these activities as a further strengthening of our services. Rapid changes throughout the supply chain have made us strategically expand and strengthen our service portfolio. We note that the flowers and plants segment fits in perfectly with our existing services. With the acquisition of GIST Nederland, we immediately create a solid seat within this market segment. This increase in scale allows us to offer our customers an even broader portfolio of services. Scale is also necessary to be able to be more flexible as well as participate in the energy transition and digitization in our sector.”

Julian Bailey, MD van Gist Nederland, added:

“The sale of these activities is a strategic choice to bring further focus to the company. We are very happy that our people have ended up with a real family business like DLG”.
