Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Deutsche Post DHL logistics group saw an increase between April and June of this year, although this was the peak of the coronavirus crisis. It owes such good results mainly to eCommerce.
DPDHL Group recorded a 3.1% increase in turnover compared to Q2 2019. On the other hand, in organic terms, i.e. after exchange rate adjustments and taking into account the portfolio effect, the turnover increased by up to 4.6%. Behind the good results of the company is primarily a strong increase in Internet sales, which we have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As for operating profit EBIT (earnings before taxes and interest), it increased by 18.6% to €912mn in Q2. Despite the difficult conditions resulting from the pandemic, all the divisions of the Group have made profits.
According to the company, behind the good results is a correct response to the changes caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The Deutsche Post took steps at an early stage to adapt its capacity to the changing demand situation and to ensure the availability of its own air freight resources.
