The police are warning about the increasing number of cargo thefts and the Dutch transport organisation TLN calls on carriers to plan their routes wisely. It is also worth selecting semi-trailers suitable for transported goods.

In recent weeks, many cargoes have been stolen from parking lots on the A67 and A73 motorways between Venlo and Nijmegen, according to police reports. In most cases, these were easy to sell goods popular among thieves (including electronic equipment) transported in tautliners.

Although the group of perpetrators has been arrested, as reported by TLN, the organisation calls on carriers to remain vigilant.

Proper transport planning

TLN emphasizes the importance of the proper choice of means of transport for the load. It points out that valuable goods, which are more vulnerable to theft, should not be transported in tautliners. In addition, the association recommends special care when choosing a parking space on the route.

If possible, the driver should park in a guarded parking lot. It is best to determine the route in advance in order to include such facilities.

For this purpose, you can use a special application, such as Transparking, which not only informs you about free parking spaces for trucks but also provides information about all the amenities plus security features and it allows you to plan your route.
