DX Group extends UK freight-handling capacity at Warrington and Heathrow

Delivery solutions provider DX Group has announced the opening of two new dedicated freight facilities in Warrington and Heathrow, as part of its ongoing investment programme. The move takes the number of sites opened, relocated, or expanded since the start of the current financial year to eight, and reflects the continued expansion of the Group's DX Freight and DX Express divisions.

The new facilities, which have been adapted to meet the specific needs of DX Freight, will enhance the company’s freight-handling capacity, operational efficiency, and customer service, DX states in its press release.

The Warrington facility, which previously housed DX Express, has been repurposed to create a 30,290 sq ft space with a new raised loading dock.

Meanwhile, the site at Heathrow, which is adjacent to existing freight facilities at Lakeside Road Industrial Estate, doubles the freight-handling capacity in the region and will support the existing regional hub’s operations, increasing potential throughput.

Further investment in the depot network is planned over the remainder of DX’s current financial year ending 1 July 2023, as part of the Group’s ongoing £20-£25 million investment programme. DX is also investing in a new fleet, including electric vehicles, parcel-handling mechanisation, and new technology.

Paul Ibbetson, Chief Executive Officer of DX (Group) plc, said:

“We have substantially increased investment in the depot network over recent years, and this latest investment at Heathrow and Warrington significantly increases DX Freight’s capacity in two important regions. As well as delivering further capacity, the investment will help us to continue to maintain very high service levels as we expand, which is critical to our continued success. Plans are well under way for further investment in the depot network over the remainder of the year.”
