A new secure truck stop with electric truck charging has opened at Magna Park near Lutterworth in Leicestershire, in the heart of the UK's logistics Golden Triangle. The Electroway site has 180 secure HGV bays and 32 chargers of 400 kW. It is the first UK site on the Bosch Secure Truck Parking platform to combine parking and charging.

Key points

  • Electroway Magna Park opened on 14 October on the A5, close to the M1 and M6.
  • The 22,500 sq m site has 180 secure bays, 32 x 400 kW chargers and TAPA level 2 security.
  • Drivers and dispatchers can book spaces through the Bosch Secure Truck Parking app, web portal or fleet management systems.
  • HGV crime cost the UK an estimated £65.1 million in 2025, according to NaVCIS.

Electroway was developed by Keoma Energy. Bosch Road Services is the technical operator. It supplied the access control hardware, security technology and the digital booking platform. It is Bosch Road Services’ first secure truck parking location in the UK.

Where is it and what does it offer?

The site is at Bittesby Way, Magna Park, Lutterworth (LE17 4YQ). Magna Park is one of Europe’s largest logistics parks, and the site sits on the A5 close to the M1 and M6.

Facilities include:

  • 180 secure HGV bays on 22,500 sq m,
  • 32 chargers of 400 kW for electric trucks,
  • 78 CCTV cameras with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR),
  • turnstiles and QR code access,
  • a driver lounge, showers, laundry and a truck wash.

Security meets TAPA level 2, the middle of the three levels in the Transported Asset Protection Association standard. The site is monitored remotely 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The security and fire systems were installed by Protec Fire and Security Group, part of Bosch.

Parking booked with the transport order

The site is part of the Bosch Secure Truck Parking platform, which offers more than 30,000 spaces in over 600 parking areas in 12 European countries, including more than 50 sites in the UK. Electroway is the first of them to combine parking and electric truck charging.

Operators can book spaces:

  • via a web portal or mobile app,
  • through integration with fleet and transport management systems (TMS), using Bosch’s L.OS logistics operating system.

Dispatchers can choose a parking space based on location, departure time, route length and the driver’s remaining driving time. Bookings are billed on a single monthly invoice. Bosch says this reduces time spent looking for parking and helps drivers comply with driving and rest time rules.

“Our goal is to provide drivers with the safe, dignified environment they deserve, while giving operators the peace of mind that their cargo is secure,” said Dr Jan-Philipp Weers, head of Bosch Road Services.

Why secure parking matters

The UK has a well-documented shortage of truck parking, and unsecured parking is where most cargo crime happens. According to the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS), there were nine HGV-related crimes a day in 2025, and 27% of thefts from trailers involved curtain slashing. Combined losses from HGV and cargo crime were estimated at £65.1 million.

The risk is highest before Christmas. Police in Yorkshire have just launched a campaign against cargo gangs targeting parked lorries, and earlier this year we reported on UK freight crime reaching nine reports a day.

For operators of electric trucks, the combination of secure overnight parking and high-power charging in one place is still rare in the UK. Electroway lets drivers charge during their rest break in the Midlands, one of the busiest freight areas in the country.
