The order comprises 100 DAF XD 450 tractor units for the UK, alongside 11 DAF XG 480 tractors for the Netherlands and 20 DAF XF 480 tractors for France.
DAF said the vehicles will be used across different parts of FedEx’s European road network. The XD 450s are intended for regional and national distribution, while the XF 480 Sleeper Cab models will be used for longer-distance operations. The XG 480s have been selected for routes where greater cab space is required.
The deal will see FedEx replace some of its existing linehaul vehicles while also expanding its use of DAF trucks. In particular, the 20 vehicles heading to France will mark the first introduction of DAF trucks into FedEx’s French operations.
FedEx already operates DAF vehicles elsewhere in Europe and has been a long-standing customer of DAF and its parent company PACCAR.
Safia Ladhari, managing director of network operations at FedEx in Europe, said the new vehicles would support the company’s efforts to improve operational efficiency while providing its teams with modern trucks backed by DAF’s service network.
David Kiss, European sales director at DAF Trucks, said the order would expand and renew FedEx’s DAF fleets in the UK and the Netherlands while extending the relationship into France for the first time.
