Ford’s F-MAX hits 134 km/h while driven on frozen lake

Ford Trucks, participating in this year’s “Days of Speed on the Ice of Lake Baikal”, broke the event’s speed record with the its F-MAX truck piloted by former Rally Champion Ilona Nakutis.

The F-MAX hit a top speed of 134 km/h on the frozen lake before performing a brake test at a speed of 80 km/h. After Nakutis hit the breaks, the truck F-MAX travelled a further 169.45 metres before coming to a complete stop.

Andrey Leontyev, an 18-time Russian motorsport champion involved in organising the event, said that the results exceeded expectations:

The Ford Trucks F-MAX not only attempted a new speed record, but also showed results that significantly exceeded our expectations. We want to continue our collaboration, hoping that this unique experience will be beneficial for Ford Trucks.

The “Days of Speed on the Ice of Lake Baikal” is an annual event that has been run by the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and the Russian Automobile Federation.

With a maximum depth of 1,642 meters, Siberia’s Lake Baikal is the deepest in the world.
