Geopost’s BRT has launched BRT Fresh – a new delivery service for the Italian market focused on chilled food products.

The service is already active in Milan, Rome, and Padua, and by the end of 2023, it will also be extended to the branches in Bologna and Turin. The second year of the service will then cover the remaining main Italian cities.

Geopost says it wants to become European leader in temperature-controlled parcel delivery, and has cited research that points towards 9% annual growth in the sector over the next 5 years.

The service developed for Italy includes delivery six days a week (with same-day delivery for local orders), the option to select a time slot, and doorstep delivery. BRT Fresh will also use an advanced delivery notification system, which it says will minimise holding times and vehicle movements.

The last mile will be covered by refrigerated vans or using specially made insulated and temperature-controlled containers.

Commenting on the announcement, Simone Vicentini,  BRT Chief Business Development Officer, said:

“In an increasingly connected world with ever-changing consumption patterns, our commitment is to ensure that temperature-sensitive food products reach their destination in optimal conditions. With this new service, BRT is ready to offer a quality shipping experience, ensuring the ideal temperature throughout the distribution chain. BRT fresh is an innovation that goes beyond logistics, it will allow the creation of new business opportunities for many companies in the food sector, regardless of their size, enabling them to reinvent the way they propose their excellence directly to consumers and in new markets.”
