GLS Italy has announced the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of ProntoPacco, which has one of Italy’s largest PUDO networks.

The acquisition by GLS  follows a partnership between the two companies that began in April 2022.

GLS says the deal will bring it more than 6,000 PUDOS throughout Italy, thereby enabling the company to increase its positioning in the B2C market, as well as respond to the needs of e-commerce players to offer quality, sustainable last mile services.

The parcel delivery company believes that the ProntoPacco deal will generate “countless advantages” for customers, who will have access to an extensive and widespread network of Parcel Shop GLS collection and delivery points.

Despite the deal, GLS says ProntoPacco will remain an open network and will continue to provide services to other couriers or players in the last mile sector.

“This acquisition allows us to consolidate our presence in a high-potential market such as the B2C market, which we believe will grow at considerable rates in the coming years given the continuous development of the e-commerce market, which has recorded an increase +5% on products in 2022,” said Klaus Schädle, Group Area Managing Director of GLS.
