This shift towards a paperless approach is a result of collaborative efforts by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the Hellenic Federation of Road Transport (OFAE), underscoring Greece’s commitment to modernizing goods transport.

The introduction of e-CMR offers multiple advantages for the logistics sector, stresses IRU. Notably, it is expected to reduce handling costs and eliminate administrative bottlenecks, including invoicing delays commonly associated with traditional paper-based methods.

Additionally, the digital protocol aims to minimize discrepancies during deliveries.

e-CMR enhances transparency and security throughout the logistics chain, providing real-time access to critical data concerning pick-up and delivery processes. This shift to a digital platform allows for seamless integration with other digital services, offering transport companies greater flexibility in enhancing their logistical operations.

The adoption of the e-CMR standard is poised to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the Greek logistics sector, both in domestic and international contexts.
