Companies House filings made the very next day show part of the company’s charged assets were released under an asset purchase agreement involving Zero Degree Logistics Ltd.
In other words, this was not just a haulier running out of road. The paperwork points to a business that went into administration and then saw assets moved almost immediately into a new structure.
Martyn Barratt Transport was based at Trowell Freight Depot in Nottinghamshire. Its latest accounts put average headcount at 55, down only slightly from 56 a year earlier.
The latest accounts, for the year to 30 June 2025, showed the company still had positive net assets of £565,468. Cash at bank stood at £1,630,441.
But the direction was going the wrong way.
A year earlier, net assets were £626,059 and cash was £1,844,189. At the same time, creditors due within one year rose to £1,371,094, from £1,318,838.
So the company still looked solvent on paper, but the numbers were getting weaker.
Martyn Barratt Transport entered administration on 13 April, with Dean Anthony Nelson and Emily Louise Oliver of PKF SC Advisory Limited appointed as joint administrators through the High Court.
Paperwork filed the next day shows assets were freed up for a deal involving Zero Degree Logistics Ltd, suggesting the transfer was already being lined up as the company entered administration.
