Holiday truck bans in August. Check where and when they apply

In several European countries, people celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in mid-August. Below is a list of the countries and dates on which the truck holiday bans apply in this month. 

14 August 

Croatia – from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The ban applies to trucks and combinations with GVW above 7.5 t and trucks and vehicles with trailers above 14 m in length. 

France – from 10 p.m. to midnight, the restriction applies to trucks and vehicle combinations with GVW of over 7.5 tonnes, except for special vehicles and agricultural vehicles. 

Luxembourg – from 9:30 p.m. to midnight towards France and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight towards Germany. The ban applies to vehicles with GVW over 7.5 t, with or without a trailer.

Poland – from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., vehicles and combinations with GVW above 12 t.

15 August (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

Austria – from midnight to 10 p.m. The ban applies to tractors with trailers with GVW of the tractor or the trailer over 3.5 tonnes, trucks, articulated vehicles with GVW exceeding 7.5 t.

Croatia – from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

France – from midnight to 10 p.m.

Luxembourg – from 0:00 to midnight towards France and from 0:00 to 9:45 p.m. and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight towards Germany.

Poland – from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Slovenia – from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The traffic ban applies to heavy goods vehicles and vehicle sets with GVW exceeding 7.5 t. 

19 August

Hungary – from 10 p.m. to midnight. The traffic ban for trucks in Hungary applies to heavy goods vehicles with GVW exceeding 7.5 t.

20 August 

Hungary – from midnight to 10 p.m. (St. Stephen’s Day – the patron saint of Hungary).
