According to the Danish police, the accident occurred on a motorway near Esbjerg on Monday.

“A truck yesterday “dropped”  an ice-sheet down on a rear-passing car on the Esbjerg motorway. As you can see, the windshield got smashed. The driver got cuts on his face, and the driver of the truck risks being suspended from driving or having his driver’s license revoked,” said South Jutland Police on Facebook.

In light of the accident, the police warned lorry drivers and motorists of their legal obligation to keep their vehicles in such a condition that they do not endanger others.

“This means you need to make sure the snow and ice from your vehicle can’t come off, thereby disrupting traffic and hitting others, just like you need to remove ice and snow from all your windows to have a full view,” added the police.

As South Jutland Police explains, failure to do this can put drivers at risk of a penalty.
