Last month, InPost UK announced a partnership with Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society Ltd that will see parcel lockers installed at some ‘The Cooperative’ stores in the Chelmsford area. The parcel delivery company now seems to be keen to extend these partnerships to other regions, as a deal covering Mid Counties co-op stores has just been announced.
Writing on LinkedIn, InPost UK said it was delighted to announce it had joined forces with The Midcounties Co-operative “to introduce convenient and hassle-free parcel lockers across their stores, bringing added value to consumers”.
Philip Ponsonby, CEO of The Midcounties Co-operative, added:
“The Society is excited to be partnering with InPost in adding new and innovative parcel facilities to our list of services, enhancing our overall member and customer experience and allowing consumers to make the most of their journey doing a food shop and returning their parcels at the same time.”
Just like the last co-op deal, this one is very much a localised one and the numbers that come from it are likely to be small. However, should the partnership widen across the full co-op network, it would provide InPost with the opportunity to further ramp up its UK parcel locker numbers.
The co-op have over 2,500 stores across the UK. Many of those are smaller, more convenience-focused shops that are located in neighbourhoods outwith city centres or in smaller towns.
Therefore, such a partnership could allow InPost to install lockers in some urban and more remote areas where it does not currently have coverage.
