A ‘Jabbernaut’ HGV with a trailer converted into a mobile coronavirus vaccination clinic is ready to hit the road to help extend the rollout of covid vaccines to communities in the Scottish Highlands.

According to Mike Cooper, Highland Council’s Transport and Logistics Manager, the 40ft box trailer meets all the medical and vehicle safety requirements. It was built after consultation with local medical staff to ensure it has everything a vaccination clinic would need.

The truck has been humorously named the ‘Jabbernaut’ by Highland Council.

Cllr Allan Henderson, Chair of Highland Council’s Communities and Place Committee, has praised the creativity of those who came up with the plan:

“I commend Council staff for their creativity and very positive approach to partnership working with NHS Highland to create the Jabbernaut and I thank the Cairngorm Group for their very generous donations of new windows and doors for the build. The Jabbernaut will help enable NHS staff to deliver their vaccination programme across Highland regardless of location.”

The Jabbernaut will now be tasked with bringing the covid vaccine rollout to rural communities across the Highland Council region.
