Rhenus Group says the move will allow the company to expand its road freight network and strengthen its presence in the region between the locations in Dietzenbach in Hesse and in Pleidelsheim in Swabia.

The company adds that MTG is active in the chemical industry and can serve the important Mannheim/Ludwigshafen economic area even better – and offer its customers the entire product portfolio of the company.

Founded in 1927 as a haulage company, MTG now has 150 employees and a turnover of 30 million euros. Its core business includes national and international general cargo, part load and full load transports. Transhipment halls with a storage area of 10,500 square meters are available for interim storage.

MTG and the Rhenus Group have been working together for many years, as both companies are part of the CargoLine logistics network.

“In view of the increasing consolidation of the general cargo markets and the further increasing IT requirements in the course of digitization, we are certain that this merger and the associated economic strength will offer us the opportunity to continue to provide our customers and partners with the planning security they are accustomed to in the future to guarantee the supply chain. Last but not least, the change of shareholders also offers good future prospects for our employees,” say Walter and Gerhard Bayer, founders of MTG.

Subject to the approval of the Cartel Office, the Rhenus Group will take over the company retrospectively as of January 1, 2023.
