The takeover, first announced in June, has been finalised following completion of the required legal and regulatory procedures. The Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) approved the transaction on 8 July, concluding that sufficient competition would remain after the acquisition.
Under the new structure, Vos Transport Group will become part of Ewals Cargo Care’s Part Loads division, alongside Ewals Groupage and the company’s existing less-than-truckload activities.
The move is intended to strengthen Ewals’ European LTL and groupage network while complementing its existing full-load, multimodal and freight solutions operations. Vos specialises primarily in part-load and LTL transport, while also carrying out full truckload operations.
Vos brand and operations remain for now
There will be no immediate change for Vos customers, partners or suppliers. The company will initially continue operating under the Vos Transport Group brand and with its existing management team, while cooperation with other Ewals businesses is developed gradually.
Existing contacts, contracts and day-to-day operations will also remain unchanged during the initial integration phase.
The combined group now employs around 3,500 people and generates annual turnover of approximately €850 million, according to Transportmedia.
Ewals operates across Europe and has a fleet of more than 4,750 trailers. The company says the acquisition will allow it to offer a broader combination of multimodal full-load, part-load and freight management services across its European network.
