The deal strengthens Menzies Distribution Solutions’ (MDS)  presence in the Midlands logistics corridor and expands its work in packaging, FMCG and manufacturing transport. MDS said the agreement brings long-standing customer relationships and additional fleet capacity into its network, while ensuring continuity for C Butt’s customers in Northampton and Kettering.

C Butt, founded in 1926 and run by three generations of the Butt family, is being wound down as directors Jonathan and Robert Butt retire. In a statement, they said they had selected MDS as a partner “with the scale, systems and culture” to support customers in the future.

MDS chief executive Richard Morson said the company was “very pleased to welcome C Butt’s people and customers”, adding that existing teams would continue to handle work locally but with access to MDS’s nationwide infrastructure and 24/7 services.
