Mercedes-Benz Trucks completes winter testing of eActros 600 for long-distance haulage

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced the successful completion of final winter testing of the eActros 600 electric truck designed for long-distance haulage. The tests, conducted in Rovaniemi, Finland between January and March 2024, subjected prototype vehicles to extreme cold and snow conditions, with temperatures as low as -35 degrees Celsius.

We are in the final stages of testing the eActros 600 and are very satisfied with the results, said Dr Christof Weber, Head of Global Testing at Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The team has done an outstanding job putting the eActros through its paces in both extreme heat in Andalusia and the harsh cold here in Rovaniemi.

The eActros 600, unveiled in October 2023, boasts a high battery capacity of over 600 kWh, enabling a range of 500 kilometres without intermediate charging.

The truck also features a new, in-house developed electric drive axle for optimised efficiency. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Trucks plans to integrate future support for megawatt charging (MCS) alongside the existing CCS charging with up to 400 kW.

The eActros 600 marks a step towards electric long-haul transport for Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The company aims to not only deliver the vehicle itself, but also a comprehensive solution encompassing consulting services, charging infrastructure, and other related services.

This approach is intended to ensure a smooth transition for fleet operators looking to incorporate electric vehicles into their operations. Beyond the tractor unit, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will also offer rigid body variants of the eActros 600, providing customers with a wider range of applications for electric transport.

The official market launch of the eActros 600 is scheduled for later this year.
