New overtaking bans for trucks in Saxony, Germany

Due to the increasing traffic on the Saxon highways, the local transport department decided to introduce new overtaking bans for trucks. They will be valid during certain hours of a day.

According to the Saxony Ministry of Transport, the new overtaking bans for heavy goods vehicles are to be in force by the end of May this year. This solution, according to the ministry, will improve traffic flow and increase security on sensitive sections. In total, prohibitions will cover 190 km of roads.

Sections of the road where bans will be introduced

– A4 between the entry points Hermsdorf and Ohorn: Ohorn/Pulsnitz (from 7:00 to 10:00) and Pulsnitz/Hermsdorf (from 7:00 to 10:00),

– A14 between the Nossen and Nossen-Ost junctions – on working days from 15:00 to 19:00,

– A 14 between Mutzschen and Leipzig-East (Leipzig-Ost) – on working days from 15:00 to 19:00,

– A72 between Treuen and Reichenbach – on Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 to 20:00,

– A 72 between Reichenbach and Zwickau-West (Zwickau-West) – on Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 to 20:00,

– A 72 between Zwickau-East (Zwickau-Ost) and Chemnitz-South (Chemnitz-Süd) – towards Leipzig from 7:00 to 20:00, and towards Hof from 13:00 to 20:00.
