New association for road transport support in Turkic states

The Union of the Associations of International Road Carriers has been established to enhance road transport and trade within the region covered by the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The initiative, supported by the International Road Transport Union (IRU), aims to address challenges in international road transport and customs in the region.

The founding members of the Union of the Associations of International Road Carriers (OTS-URTA) include IRU members from Azerbaijan (ABADA), Kazakhstan (KAZATO), Kyrgyzstan (AIRTO KR), Türkiye (UND), Turkmenistan (THADA), and Uzbekistan (AIRCUZ). The association was inaugurated with the signing of its terms of reference.

According to the announcement, OTS-URTA will focus on reducing operational costs, removing trade barriers, and encouraging collaboration among regional road transport associations. One of its key priorities is to strengthen logistics solutions along the Middle Corridor.

IRU’s General Delegate in Istanbul, Erman Ereke, attended the inaugural event and highlighted the potential benefits of the initiative. Ereke stated that IRU will provide expertise and support to OTS-URTA to enhance efficiency, address logistical challenges, and promote sustainable growth in the region.

Additionally, IRU Vice President Aslı Çalık presented the IRU Diploma of Honour to drivers and transport companies from the OTS region during the event.
