The A14 is closed between junction 39 at Kentford and junction 40 at Higham following a collision during the early hours of Monday, 10 August.
National Highways confirmed that an HGV had overturned and that traffic officers were attending the scene. Drivers have been warned to expect delays while the vehicle is recovered and the carriageway cleared.
Official diversion via the A11 and A1101
Eastbound traffic should leave the A14 at junction 38 at Waterhall and continue along the A11 to Five Ways roundabout.
At the roundabout, drivers should take the fourth exit onto the A1101, following it through Icklingham, Lackford, Flempton and Hengrave to the roundabout at Fornham All Saints.
Traffic should then take the third exit onto the B1106 towards Westley and rejoin the A14 eastbound at junction 42.

Closure disrupts major freight artery
The A14 provides the principal road connection between the Port of Felixstowe, the Midlands and northern England. National Highways describes it as a vital route carrying local, regional and international traffic between Felixstowe and the rest of the country.
The closure is therefore likely to affect HGVs travelling to and from the UK’s largest container port, particularly during the Monday morning peak.
At the time of publication (9:20 am, 10/08/2026), the road remained reported closed in the eastbound direction between junctions 39 and 40. Drivers should check the latest National Highways traffic information before setting out and allow additional time for their journeys.
