The incident occured on June 23rd in the Krasnystaw area between the eastern cities of Lublin and Zamosc. A lorry driver was spotted snaking his HGV by traffic police.

When the police conducted their check, the truck driver was in such a state he fell out of his cabin onto the road. The driver, who had been hauling a 30-ton load, was immediately put in police custody. He was found to have had 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his body – more than 12 times the legal limit in Poland.

According to the police report, the driver had problems keeping his balance. Officers soon found a vodka bottle next to the driver’s seat, and it is thought the man had probably been drinking from it while driving.

Needless to say, the police described the driver as “extremely irresponsible”. Besides taking the driver into custody, the police seized his vehicle.

As the police have explained, the driver will be responsible for his behavior in court. He faces the prospect of imprisonment, a driving ban, a fine, and a high payment towards Poland’s fund for the victims of accidents.
