Derbyshire police have expressed their satisfaction after officers on the night shift arrested cargo thieves who had been using a DAF lorry to transport stolen goods. The arrests and recovery of property were described as a “cracking result” by the police’s Facebook Page.
According to the report, officers had received information from the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS) regarding a stolen DAF truck that was being used to steal lorry loads and cargo.
The strategic road network team was given the task of hunting down the lorry. A few hours later, the stolen lorry stopped on the M1 and was spotted with false plates.
Officers found a load full of stolen goods in the trailer, while the two prime suspects were in the truck. The suspects were promptly arrested and all the property was recovered.
