In a statement explaining the motivation for the deal, Metrans stressed the strategic location of the terminal, which is on the 2nd Pan – European Transport Corridor and the Brest – Malaszewicze crossing.

Metrans adds that the facility will become a hub for the new Silk Road, and a possible crossing point between the 1435 mm and the 1520 mm track gauges.

The company has also stated that CL Europort will continue to serve all its clients as well as additional connections to the Metatrans network. Moreover, Metratrans believes the new relationship will “provide an excellent opportunity to learn from each other” and “to develop further synergies between the company and our clients”.

As shown in the image above, the Malaszewicze terminal shall transport goods via rail directly to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany. Using the company’s other hubs and terminals, containers may also be transported to and from the ports of Trieste, Hamburg, Antwerp and Rotterdam.
