The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport - CILT(UK) has released a strategy revealing that electrifying 95% of UK rail freight operations by the mid-2040s requires just 800 miles of additional electrification. CILT estimates this will cost c.£50m p.a. over two years and is a cost-effective way of reducing emissions from transport operations.
