Polish truck driver climbs the Himalayas. This is how he celebrates an important anniversary for Poland

Partyk Prukop will take part in the race in the capital of Nepal at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level. He will reach the base under Mount Everest. In this way, he not only wants to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence but also to show that a truck driver can be an active athlete.

The driver is one of several hundred people who take part in the „Polish Himalayas 2018” action. It consists of three events: a 100-kilometer run in Kathmandu (not every participant must overcome the distance, it will depend on strength), trekking to the base under the highest peak of the world and a trip to the very top.

The last event is reserved only for experienced mountaineers, the first two, however – for a slightly wider group of participants. Therefore, Patryk Prukop may participate in them.

He wants to disprove the myth

The fact that he is not a professional alpinist does not mean that in sports he is a complete layman. On the contrary. The driver, working everyday in England, runs marathons and has a very healthy lifestyle.

It was not always like that. He used to be overweight, but he decided to take the matters into his own hands. The result was a spectacular metamorphosis.

I am very keen on abolishing the myth of an obese and passive professional driver,” convinces Patryk, who belongs to the group of active drivers of the Truckers Life Foundation – an organization that cares about the health of professional truckers.

If everything goes as planned, the driver should already reach Mount Everest. We keep our fingers crossed!
