The deal will see Avon Freight, which has over 40 years of experience in groupage, warehousing, and customs services between the UK and Ireland, become part of the Meath-headquartered Primeline Group. Avon’s current Managing Director, Dawn Greene, will continue to lead the business from its base in Redditch.
“This acquisition will enable us to broaden our footprint in the UK market, whilst also enabling synergies across our entire operations,” said Tim Cummins, CEO of Primeline Group. “Bringing Avon into the group also aligns with our goal of being the leading provider of game-changing logistics and route-to-market solutions.”
Avon employs more than 120 staff and operates from three sites in Redditch, with a strong focus on driver-accompanied freight services to Ireland. Its capabilities will complement Primeline’s existing operations, which span the food and drink, health and beauty, retail, and pharmaceutical sectors.
“Primeline Group has a fantastic reputation for recognising growth opportunities and leading the way in the evolving world of logistics and supply chain solutions,” said Dawn Greene. “We are looking forward to being part of a team that is ambitious and excited for the future.”
Corporate finance advisors Evolve supported Avon’s shareholders through the sale. David Neate, partner at Evolve Corporate Finance, said:
“The business has built an enviable reputation in its market under the stewardship of Dawn and the management team, and the sale to Primeline will enable both parties to drive further growth in key territories across Ireland and Europe.”
Primeline currently employs 1,200 people across Ireland and the UK. The group described the acquisition as a strategic move to enhance its cross-border logistics capabilities amid increasing complexity in customs and freight movement between the UK and Europe.
