The fatal accident occured at the A3 Stindertal rest area near Düsseldorf.
After the lorry driver had parked his truck, his vehicle began to roll towards the truck parked next to it. The driver happened to be standing between the two vehicles when this happened, and he ended up being fatally crushed.
The emergency services were called to the scene of the accident, but the 36-year-old from Uzbekistan had died on the spot before any medical intervention could be taken.
It isn’t known if the lorry was rolling due to a handbrake error, fault or something else. The accident is being investigated by Düsseldorf’s police department.
