The M20 motorway in the UK will be closed overnight from Tuesday, June 26 to Saturday, June 30 and one week later from July 3 to 6 for surfacing works. Drivers can expect diversions and difficulties when approaching the port of Dover and Eurotunnel.
In the UK, surfacing works will be undertaken next week on the M20 motorway, according to the press release published by the British Road Transport Association RHA. Between June 26th and 30th, from 20:00 to 6:00, a section of the road between junction 9 and 11 towards the port of Dover and the Eurotunnel will be closed. All freight traffic in this direction will be redirected to the A2/M2 route at these dates. The diversion route will be marked from junction 9 along the A28, A2, and A20. To guarantee that these routes will be used, CCTV cameras will appear in strategic locations.
One week later, from 3 to 6 July at night, work will be carried out on the same section, only towards London. The section of road between junction 11 and 9 will be closed and a diversion route will be valid from 20:00 to 6:00 in the morning. Freight traffic from Dover will be redirected to route A2/M2. Drivers can follow the signed diversion route from the Thanington junction for the A28 to re-join the M20 at junction 9. The freight traffic from Eurotunnel towards London will be routed through M20, A20, A2 and A28.
RHA calls for drivers to plan their trip earlier and anticipate additional time for diversions.
