As the Spanish transport industry website diariodetansporte.com reports, on Thursday, 16th of March the Danish law enforcement stopped a truck with Dutch registration plates for a routine inspection. It was driven by two drivers of the Hungarian origin.
Police officers detected that the drivers were driving for nearly six days without rest. The men explained that they were taking turns – when one of them was driving the other was sleeping, which is an equally serious offence according to the police.
For not complying to the working time and rest period regulations, the two men were fined DKK 100,000 (approximately PLN 57,300) by the Danish police whereas the Dutch carrier and the owner of the truck was fined DKK 300,000 (approximately PLN 172,000).
