Brewery offers €5,000 sign-on bonus in bid to recruit lorry drivers

A German brewery based on the outskirts of Kassel has been advertising a €5,000 sign-on bonus for any lorry driver who joins its ranks.

Talking to the local press about why the company had taken such a step, Kai Salzmann, who runs the brewery, said:

“If we don’t find new truck drivers soon, the shelves in the shops will soon be empty.”

Salzmann added:

“We have been looking for a new addition to our truck driver team for a long time. But we’ve found no one. We have regulated working hours and many other advantages.  We are offering every new truck driver a bonus of 5,000 euros.”

Earlier in the week, the company posted on its Facebook Page:

“€5,000 RECRUITMENT BONUS. WE ARE LOOKING FOR TRUCK DRIVERS, JUST CALL, MAKE APPOINTMENT, GET DETAILS!”

It is nonetheless worth noting that such offers can look less attractive once the finer details become clear.

The brewery hasn’t publicly stated, for example, what the regular rates are and over which time period the bonus is to be paid.

Those details are potentially just a phone call away though, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few truckers make enquiries about the vacancies.
