The rollout comes amid ongoing concerns in the European road freight sector about the chronic shortage of secure parking for heavy goods vehicles. Industry bodies including the IRU have repeatedly warned that the lack of suitable rest facilities makes it difficult for drivers to comply with EU rules on driving hours and mandatory rest periods.
SNAP’s new service, which is being integrated into its existing online platform and intruck app, is already operational at several pilot locations. A full deployment is planned throughout summer 2025, focusing on what the company describes as “high-demand freight corridors” across the continent.
According to SNAP, the past six months have seen a 6% rise in truck parking bookings on its network, indicating growing demand from hauliers for predictable, pre-arranged rest stops. The technology is designed to give site operators real-time visibility of vehicle arrivals and greater control over capacity management, potentially reducing congestion and optimising resource allocation.
“With over 200,000 drivers on our platform and partnerships with more than 800 sites, SNAP’s bookable system is helping fleets plan more effectively,” said Managing Director Matthew Bellamy.
The company says that fleet operators will be able to secure spaces in advance via its platform, while site operators can adjust the number of bookable spaces in response to changing conditions.
SNAP has not yet released details of the exact corridors or sites involved in the rollout.
