As the Road Transport Association in the Netherlands has confirmed, Germany has added the Netherlands to its list of countries deemed as a ‘High incidence area’. As a consequence, some drivers travelling from the Netherlands into Germany will need to present a negative coronavirus test at the border. The new measures come into force on Tuesday, April 6th.

The tests may be PCR tests or rapid flow tests, but must be dated no longer than 48 hours prior to the border crossing.

Fortunately, many lorry drivers will be exempt from the new testing requirements. Drivers who have spent less than 72 hours in the Netherlands prior to entering Germany shall be exempt, as will truckers who are only due to spend a maximum of 72 hours in Germany.

However, the need to register via einreiseanmeldung.de will be required for all persons crossing the border from the Netherlands into Germany.
