Traffic affected by the closure will be diverted to the A299 and the A256, resulting in a significant detour.
The A2 is of course a key road leading out of the Port of Dover.
According to local newspaper Kent Online, the closure will result in “traffic chaos”. It also adds that residents have complained about the noise of lorries driving across potholes on the A2, something that the repairs are intended to remedy.
