Today’s headline story: Swiss Post announces two acquisitions as Austrian post reveals 2022 parcel volumes and 2023 outlook

Swiss Post has confirmed that it has strengthened its network in Germany by acquiring Gaiser, based on the German-Swiss border, as well as the freight forwarder Spedition Nolden, which is based in Kerpen-Türnich near Cologne. Both companies will be incorporated into Swiss Post’s German subsidiary, Bächle Logistics.

Meanwhile, the Austrian Post has revealed its 2022 parcel volume results and outlook for 2023.

The postal operator has stated that after a 5% decline in parcel volumes in the first half of 2022, the second half of the year saw growth of around 2%. In addition, with a total of 182 million parcels transported, the company said that it had also matched the “good level” of the previous year.

In the same update, Austrian Post added that it expects the trend that emerged in the second half of the year to continue in 2023, with parcel volumes to increase in the low single-digit percentage range.
