This strategic move is intended to strengthen Stef Group’s territorial coverage across the production and consumption areas throughout the Netherlands.

The acquisition is also meant to expand the range of services dedicated to the transportation, logistics, and packaging of food products, with potential benefits for all stakeholders in the Dutch food supply chain, including food manufacturers and retailers.

Bakker Logistiek, recognized for its expertise in ambient and chilled food product logistics, stands as one of the prominent temperature-controlled companies in the Netherlands. The company, which employs 1,400 individuals and operates a fleet of 325 vehicles, reports a global turnover of 150 million euros. Bakker Logistiek’s operations encompass six sites across three locations, specifically Zeewolde, Tilburg, and Heerenveen, collectively spanning an area of 170,000 square meters and offering 205,000 pallet spaces.

“We are delighted with this agreement with BAKKER Logistiek, which is in line with our strategy as a pure player in the food supply chain and strengthens our foothold in Northern Europe. The merger is motivated by the many complementarities and synergies between our two companies, as well as the recognised expertise of our teams. It will enable us to build a new first-rate range of services to support our customers in their national and international development,” said Christophe Gorin, General Manager Northern Europe STEF Group.

Stef Group, with a presence in the Netherlands since 2014, specializes in providing transport and logistics services for chilled and frozen food products. The STEF Nederland division currently maintains a workforce of 400 employees and operates a fleet of over 100 vehicles, distributed across four sites in three locations, namely Bodegraven, Eindhoven, and Raalte.

Jan Prins, CEO BAKKER Logistiek added:

“We are proud of the development of BAKKER Logistiek during the past years. Thanks to the efforts of our committed employees, a wonderful company has been built. With this acquisition by STEF we are taking a great step towards realizing our national and international ambitions. Our customers will have access to an extensive professional network in the Netherlands and Europe. This allows us to further shape our continuity as a stable and sustainable chain partner in the food sector”.

The transaction is currently pending approval from the ACM, the Dutch competition authority, along with regulatory consultation procedures. The closing of the acquisition is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2024.
