For several years, the toll amounts from truck vehicles in Germany were wrongly rounded. The local office will pay back the difference to those who have applied for it. We know how many companies will receive a refund.
The fact that the Federal Office of Goods Transport (BAG) will refund the rounded road tolls to entrepreneurs was already announced in July this year. According to German industry media, 10,000 the companies were notified by letter about the end of the case in the Administrative Court of Cologne and the adjudicated refund. Enterprises can receive up to 6.9 million euros, an average of 690 euros each.
Unwise rounding of fees
In the period between January 1, 2009 and July 23, 2013, the toll was wrongly rounded. Then the difference resulting from rounding amounted to 31 eurocents with a toll amount of 1000 euros.
The BGL transport union advised its members to apply for a refund of overpaid amounts. It was to take place after the end of class actions in the Administrative Court in Cologne.
Only entrepreneurs who have submitted an application until 31 December 2016 can expect a return.
