All these elements make up the magic of the feast of San Critóbal celebrated by truck drivers in Spanish city of Segovia.
San Cristóbal is the drivers patron – the equivalent of our Saint Christopher. On Sunday, 8 July, in Segovia in Spain, drivers of trucks and buses were celebrating together with their families, employers, representatives of the authorities and of the curia and the Asetra transport union.
As every year, the parade was held, the blessing of the vehicles, the prizes in the contest “on wheels” for the best photo, story and poem, showing the cheers and chores of driver’s occupation.
“You should be proud of who you are”
A beautiful speech was delivered by Juan Andrés Saiz Garrido, President of Asetra. He emphasised the importance of the driver’s work for the economics and the society.
You should be proud of who you are. (…) I don’t know if there is more of us, but definitely we are stronger, because we managed to survive the worst transport crisis that has ever occurred in this country.”
How do you like this Spanish tradition?
