Europe’s best truck parking areas have been selected. The European Truck Parking of the Year 2026 title went to Bapaume Truck House in France, while Truck Etape Béziers received two prestigious awards – for green parking management and for creating a driver-friendly place described as a “Home Away from Home”.
The awards presented during the ESPORG ceremony are intended to promote the highest standards of safety, service quality and comfort for truck drivers across Europe.
Europe’s best truck parking area
The most important distinction – Excellence in Truck Parking Award 2026 – went to Bapaume Truck House in France. The facility earned recognition from the international jury for its high level of security, comfort and driver-focused infrastructure.
“Our ambition was to transform an ordinary parking area into a safe and welcoming place where drivers can truly rest and recharge,” said Thierry Roger, the facility’s CEO.
Bapaume Truck House was built along one of Europe’s key transport corridors and designed as modern infrastructure responding to growing demand for high-quality parking areas for drivers operating in international transport.
Two awards for Truck Etape Béziers
The second major winner of this year’s edition was Truck Etape Béziers, which received the Green Truck Parking Management Award 2026 as well as the new Home Away from Home Award 2026.
These awards are presented to parking facilities that take particular care of the environment while also offering drivers conditions that enable comfortable rest.
“These awards are recognition of the work we have been doing for years in environmental responsibility, driver wellbeing, sustainability and safety,” emphasised Antoine Lecea, CEO of Fal Group.
The company is announcing further investments, including infrastructure upgrades, the development of food-service facilities, and the expansion of parking capacity.
Rising standards across Europe?
This year’s competition received 21 applications representing 15 parking facilities from across the European Union. Some operators submitted their sites in more than one category, which – as the organisers emphasise – shows the sector’s growing ambition.
The jury, which included representatives of the European Commission and road transport industry organisations, drew attention to the clear progress in the quality of services offered to drivers in recent years.
Among the institutions represented on the jury were industry associations of carriers, freight forwarders and shippers, as well as representatives of parking operators and organisations representing professional drivers.
Parking as a key lever for improving drivers’ working conditions
According to representatives of European institutions, the development of safe and comfortable parking areas is one of the key elements in improving working conditions in the road transport sector.
“If drivers do not have access to safe parking areas, we cannot talk about good working conditions in this sector,” stressed Francesco Corti of the European Commission.
Cosmin Boiangiu, Executive Director of the European Labour Authority, also noted that access to adequate truck parks infrastructure has a direct impact on drivers’ wellbeing and on the attractiveness of the profession amid a growing labour shortage.
The parking of the future at the heart of European transport
ESPORG emphasises that the awards are not only meant to recognise the best facilities, but above all to promote good practices and set new standards for the entire sector.
According to Dirk Penasse, the organisation’s CEO, modern parking areas are no longer just places for trucks to stop.
They are increasingly becoming strategic service hubs within the European transport network, supporting driver safety, the energy transition and improved job quality in the road transport sector.
The initiative also aims to increase the attractiveness of the driver profession, especially among young people and women, by improving infrastructure and social standards in European road transport.
