The French want the British to seal the border, meanwhile the situation in Calais is still disturbing.

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has recently visited Calais and called on Britain to accept more migrants and increase the expenses on borders safety.

The Macron’s statement was commented by Richard Burnett, the head of the largest British association, RHA (Road Haulage Association).

I am baffled by President Macron’s comments. What does „more” mean exactly? We already have it on very good authority that the heartbeat monitors at the French border are not working. So why should the UK be asked to provide more funding when the equipment currently in place is not even being used? The bottom line is that the French authorities do not want migrants in Northern France – Burnett concluded.

When the „Jungle” camp was demolished in October 2016, the United Kingdom funded the erection of a 4-metre high and 1 km long wall, which costed British taxpayers about 2 million pounds.

The wall hasn’t stopped migrants attacking UK-bound hauliers. In fact it hasn’t even scratched the surface of the problem – Burnett continued.

According to the head of RHA, the French authorities are not doing enough to handle the current situation and the carriers from Britain are still struggling violence and intimidation by smugglers and immigrants.

It is also a problem of transport companies from other countries, which transport the loads to the British Isles.

Great Britain is going to invest more million pounds

Last Thursday France and Great Britain signed a new treaty to improve safety in Calais. The procedures for granting the asylum in the UK will be shortened.

Moreover, the British PM decided to spent 44.5 million pounds to improve the border controls in Calais. The investment will include the construction of border infrastructure (among others, more fences, monitoring and infrared devices). Part of the funds will be allocated also to the transport of illegal immigrants and refugees to other cities in France.
