The expansion has come in two stages: a fifth weekly departure was introduced in April 2026, with a sixth due to follow in June. At that point, the route will offer departures from Monday to Saturday in both directions.
The service connects CargoBeamer’s terminal in Calais with the Perpignan Saint Charles Conteneur Terminal, covering the roughly 1,000-kilometre journey in around 28 hours.
On paper, it is a north–south French corridor, but in practice, the geography gives it a wider role. Calais sits at the mouth of the Channel Tunnel and alongside major ferry routes, making it a natural handover point for UK freight flows heading south. At the other end, Perpignan is close to the Spanish border, giving operators onward access to the Greater Barcelona area and the wider Iberian market.
Lineas has provided rail traction on the route since December 2025. CargoBeamer says the service is open to a wide range of cargo, including craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers, refrigerated units, ADR and tank units, and containers.
CargoBeamer COO Boris Timm described the frequency increase as reflecting “sustainable growth” on the route.
“The corridor’s reach from the Spanish border to the Channel and beyond gives it an important role in our network,” he said, adding that the company intends to expand further in France.
